What a lovely spot on the Northern Beaches. If you love the trifecta of playground, beach and cafe, bookmark this spot. Apex Park Playground is just across the road from the beach and surf club, and a lovely cafe called The Bronze Kiosk.
The only drawback of this playground is that it isn’t fully fenced. So if you have galloping toddlers or twins or children with special needs who abscond, it’s not for you.
(And my sympathies as I have had all of the above and get so annoyed when great playgrounds are not fenced.)

Apex Park Playground
Surfview Road, Mona Vale 2103
This is a large playground with a small bike track alongside.
The extensive equipment includes roundabouts, sandpit, climbing frames, spicas, spring rockets and much more. It’s best for younger childen, but my kids enjoyed it when they were six years old too.
A flotilla of shadecloth makes this a good park to visit at any time of the day.
There are electric barbecues and shaded picnic tables close by in the park plus plenty of grassy running space.

Toilets: Toilet block beside carpark on opposite side of the road
Shade: Plenty from shadecloths
Enclosed: No, bushes encircle three sides. Close to road on two sides.
Mum’s report: After a swim at the beach this is a good place to have lunch or a barbecue while the children play in the shade
Parking: Ticket carpark on road and at beach carpark across the road.
Extra: If you love a huge and fenced playground, check out Flying Fox park and playground also in Mona Vale, just a 10 minute drive away,
I spent heaps of time doing swimming training at Mona Vale beach last summer and when the kids came too, they loved spending time at this playground. Luckily my twins are older now and they won’t go running off into the road. Relief!

What a great playground. Our older son used to take off so we used to have to go to playgrouds that had fencing around it.
Now that we only have our younger two {most of them time} when going out n about we are lucky that we can visit any playground anywhere we go.
Actually I think that we could say that we visit Australia through playgrounds!!
Like the look of the Mona Vale Playground, if we are ever that way we will be sure to check it out.
If you’d ever like to do me a guest post on a fab playground I’d be over the moon. I’m the same, can take the kids anywhere now. But between the special needs with my eldest, and then the twin terros when tiny, there were years when we couldn’t. So I’ll always love a fenced playground, but great now to be able to go far and wide.
I loved the comment about the playground getting the trifecta, I always used to looked for a fenced playground near the beach with a coffee shop nearby and shade… not asking for much?? They are few and far between. Thankfully my kids are getting a little older now 😉
Yes, the fenced ones are the best. My post on fenced playground on the North Shore is always popular – no surprise. Must get a grip and do roundups of other areas. Did I just read ‘Jaffa Fudge’? Popping straight over.
