The Greystanes Hotel has been on my list of places to visit for some time now and when I finally had the chance to check it out recently, I wished I had done so sooner.

I was instantly impressed by the outdoor kids play area; not only by the variety if offers but also the size. The play area is split into areas for younger and older kids.

The soft playground which caters for up to 12 year olds is enclosed, undercover and only a few metres away from the dining area, making it easy to keep an eye on the kids as they play.

There’s also a parents’ room is close by which is always handy, especially when toilet training.

The adjoining area, which resembles a park, is great for the older kids. It has a flying fox, climbing frame and a spinning supernova. This section is uncovered, with some tables with umbrellas and benches, and has ample space for the young and old to run around.

The menu provides a good range of choices, including a few healthy options such as the grilled chicken breast with veggies.

The kids’ menu is well priced (nothing over $8.00) and includes the usual selections such as nuggets and chips, fish, burgers, pasta and even a healthy chicken salad. The food comes out in a cardboard box, which is handy for the little ones.

Surprisingly we managed to walk past the gelato bar (kids ice cream is only $2) without my daughter realising what it was and so we settled for an apple juice with lunch and a babyccino for dessert.

We visited on a Tuesday so had the whole area to ourselves but no doubt the weekends would be buzzing with families.

There is plenty of car parking and tables (both inside and out) so we’ll definitely be making the most of the upcoming warmer months with a return visit.

Toilets/baby change: There is a kids toilet/family room

High chairs: There are quite a few high chairs available
