Huskisson Bed & Breakfast – A Beautiful B&B at Jervis Bay

A family-friendly B + B

Our family spends a lot of time at this gorgeous Bed and Breakfast in the pretty Jervis Bay town of Huskisson.

‘Why’s that?’ I hear you ask.

Well, Kate and Steve, who run Huskisson Bed & Breakfast are very old friends. They’re the kids’ honorary aunty and uncle, and Kate’s my Aussie sister.

We used to hang out there and have cups of tea when we owned a beach house in Vincentia.

Now we hang out and have cups of tea when we rent a beach house down there at our fave spot on the NSW South Coast.

Kate and Steve and I met when we all worked at BBC Scotland in the early 1990’s. This was before Kate and Steve’s eyes had met during a wet and windy Stornaway filming trip.

This was back in the days I was a loveless spinster with cats.

We all turned up back in Australia at the same time. Kate and Steve made a massive sea change, from the glam world of TV in Sydney to the busy world of the B&B in Husky.

Here we are on the wide verandah at the front of the B and B

Kate and Steve had us to stay when they welcomed families, however they have rearranged the B+B and now it’s adults only. So stay here when you need a break from the kids!

If you’re looking for a more relaxing holiday than the general beach house stay, where cooking and cleaning must be done, this B&B might be for you and your partner or for a girls’ weekends away.

Here are some more photos of Huskisson Bed and Breakfast, taken by Steve.

Reasons to stay at Huskisson Bed & Breakfast

  • Its unique style, all the rooms are painted white and look very special.
  • The beachside feel of it, even though it’s not right on the beach.
  • It’s only five minutes walk to the fabulously retro Huskisson Pictures.
  • It’s only six minutes walk from Owen Street, the heart of Huski, with its beaut cafes and quaint and quirky shops.
  • Kate and Steve are warm and expert hosts who can help you make the most of your stay.
  • Huskisson B&B has been awarded the Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence five years in a row.
  • All rooms have super comfy queen beds, I know cos I’ve lain down on them.
  • All the bathrooms have claw-footed baths. Big sigh….
  • Wifi is free!
  • The house’s sense of history, it was built in 1913; Kate and Steve can tell you all about it.
  • It’s right across the road from the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum.
  • The guest sitting-room has a cosy wood fire and is full of interesting objects, ask Kate about them.
  • It’s luxurious but feels like home too, and the price tag is not exorbitant.
  • Specials run most of the year, mid-week escapes are very well priced.

Any drawbacks?

Huskisson B&B is not waterfront, but it’s within easy walking distance to the Huskisson beaches which are gorgeous. It’s only a short drive to Vincentia’s beaches and to the dazzling white sands of Hyams Beach and Booderee National Park.

There is no kitchen for cooking your own meals but guests have use of a microwave and fridge.  For me, this is not a drawback as it would mean a real ‘no house-work’ holiday.

You can find Huskisson Bed & Breakfast on Airbnb.

My 25 Things To Do in Jervis Bay With Kids post is here.

Now then, if you stay with Kate and Steve, do let me know.

With a bit of luck, we might all be able to have a cuppa on that divine verandah.

Happy escape planning,

Dear Seana, I’ve been pouring over your blog for our upcoming visit to Sydney in March with our kids (4 and 1 year) and it’s been super useful.

I have just booked Huskisson Bed & Breakfast for 3 nights from 21 – 24 March and can’t wait. Let us know if you’ll be around – we’re coming from Hong Kong.

    Cheerio

Yes indeed – we’ll be in Sydney for about 5 days and already have Centennial park (Ian Potter garden) on the itinerary thanks to your blog. Also have The Grounds of Alexandria, walk from Bondi to Coogee with lunch at Coogee Pavillion, etc. Staying in Manly/Freshwater – actually looking at Airbnb right now. 🙂
