Are you heading off somewhere these coming school holidays?
We usually fly south, but since winter has now come, we’re veering in the opposite direction and migrating north, to South West Rocks.
Now I’ve been hearing that South West Rocks is a piece of paradise for many years. In fact, when I used to work for Ray Martin, he raved about his holidays up there with his own children.
We’re being kindly hosted by the Big4 Sunshine Holiday Park. I’ve heard of this holiday hotspot many times, especially because it has a $1 million Shipwreck Island water playground.
There are many activities on offer to keep the children amused over school holidays, plus some special offers too, see below.
We’ve been promised a luxury cabin, with two bedrooms… cannot wait!
I do love a well-run, family-focused holiday park and the Big4 Sunshine promises a pool and spa, jumping pillow, go-karts, tennis, volleyball and a Games Room with table tennis, pool table, movie cinema and air hockey.
There’s even the Full Circle Eatery which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner,
Special offers during the July holidays
- Stay4, pay 3 and enjoy ‘luxe for less’ in Cabin/Cottage accommodation – from $137 a night (open plan studio) – $200 a night for the luxury cabins
- Powered grass site for $30 a night for 2 adults ($60 for a family of 4) – minimum of 4 night stay.
- BYO Dog – dogs can accompany their families these holidays, with great beaches in the area for them to run around
South West Rocks Things To Do
A friend has told me that the Smoky Cape Lighthouse is a must, as is a cafe called Malt and Honey, opposite Horseshoe Bay. And walking on the beach, long walks with deep breaths. Excellent plan.
I’ve also read about the Trial Bay Gaol, walking in the national park, kayaking and bike riding too.
If you know South West Rocks, your tips are very welcome.
We’re planning to drive up there in one day… slowly, very slowly.
Tips on good places to stop off with kids on this journey are very very welcome.
Hooray for the holidays and for a trip to a new place.
Hooray for a bit of exploration and adventure.
Happy holiday planning,
