It’s the 1st of December and for our family the start of the Christmas season.  We’re kicking off with a review of Sydney’s favourite online butcher.

Butcherman delivers throughout Sydney and into the Blue Mountains.  I hadn’t used Butcherman previously but am a firm believer in the practicality of online food shopping so was keen to give it a whirl.

First of all I set up an account; the initial request is for a postcode, to check that deliveries are made in my area. They are, bingo – and the rest was dead easy.

The Home Delivery + Times pages shows all suburbs served and the time of the week the delivery is made.

I chose a half ham, ideal for Christmas.

turkey breast x-420x280

And a rolled turkey roast, I’m not keen on roasting a whole bird

The delivery was made next day and turned up right in the middle of the expected time window.  So all the meats I’d ordered went straight into the fridge or freezer, super cool.

Butcherman Website – The Best Bits

It’s simple to use, and quick too.

There are weekly specials on the website.

The Christmas boxes are offering terrific value at the moment.

I liked the list of kids meats.

If you can’t be at home (or office) to take the delivery you can leave out an esky or pre-purchase a cooler bag.

Having a tab for Christmas meats is handy, gets you straight there.

Glad to see an organic meat section.

See some great recipes on Butcherman here.

Great to have the heavy Christmas meats delivered and not be staggering home with them.

Anything To Improve?

I like to know where my food is coming from so would love to read a bit more about where the animals are farmed.

So What’s Cookin’?

I cooked the turkey roll roast yesterday, I just dotted it with butter and put it in a dish with a little water.

Then put some foil over for the first 80 minutes of cooking, taking it off for the last 30 mins to let the top crisp and brown.

Very succulent

We ate this with roast spuds and a big green salad, my teenagers wolfed down absolutely loads.

Good luck!

Many thanks to Butcherman who gifted me meats from their website plus two voucher giveaways for readers. Giveaway has ended.

I don’t have a car so ordering food online and having it delivered directly to my door is for me a very convenient way to shop – especially because meat is heavy too! Finally eating high quality products is important to me so the Butcherman sounds just perfect to me! I’d love to win a voucher to try their service and products this Christmas.

They have a great selection Seana! Love that they’ve taken the difficulty out of selecting meats for Christmas Day with their packs. Everything looks really good and fresh. I’d be willing to give them a go for sure.

You had my attention at online food shopping. Online food shopping has been a life saver for my family as I have a young toddler who doesn’t enjoy grocery shopping with mummy & daddy. But I have yet to find a good butcher that does delivery, so I am very keen to try out Butcherman. By the way, that turkey looks amazing, I think I’m gonna win the wife of the year award if I cooked it for the man of the house.

Love the idea of the small Christmas pack – I never can decide on what to cook – this gives you a bit of everything!

Love the butcherman website – fresh meat, seafood and poultry all at the click of my fingers. The perfect way to shop for Christmas lunch without all the crowds! All the hard work is done for me!

This is so funny. My mother-in-law and I were just discussing that we want a rolled turkey for Christmas and I told her I’d google it (we’re not fans of frozen turkey)…and your post came up! I thought it must be an old post and its from yesterday! All the small butchers in our suburb have closed which is sad..maybe online is the way of the future. The Butcherman sounds like a good alternative. Anyway, fingers crossed!

  • I don’t suppose they have haggis do they… but I have to say the turkey roast sounds yummier. Sadly I don’t live in the right ‘hood to benefit if I win… but I’m sure I could regift it to someone!

The website looks very easy to use and the meat looks as though quality is a priority. Also comparable with supermarket prices.

I love the idea of a small Christmas box delivered to my front door! Perfect for my little family and guests…. such a great price and the other items look delish too!
My very picky English hubby is waiting for me to find the perfect rib roast which I noticed in the deluxe box for again a fantastic price & full of goodies…. living with growing meat eating boys they would be very happy not so little lads…

Hi there! love your blog, thanks so much for the help over the years! As a designer, the look and feel of the website is great, which is fantastic! I personally hate buying meat in a supermarket, and always go to my local butcher for meat. To be fair, I hate buying most things at the supermarket! Hope you have a wonderful day!

This is a great service. The more things that can be delivered to your front door the better. I’m pleased to see they have an organic meat section. I’ll check out their website to see what I can order for Christmas xx

FLIPPING AWESOME! I had no idea there was a service like this out there. I thought if you wanted meat delivered you were stuck with the online grocery stores, but I love to buy my meat at a specialist butcher. The prices look to be consistant with the most competitive local butchers too, and the shipping isn’t too bad for the conveniance of having it turn up. Not sure I would place an order for over $100 normally to get the free shipping, but with creative budgeting and meal planning It could be done. Love it! Thanks for the review xx

Love their website! I have been thinking about ordering online for a while now.. The local butcher here is questionable, and my kids always moan and groan that they’re FREEZING when I head to the meat sections at Coles and Woolies..
Ohhhh the peace of online shopping…… Everything looks so nice and fresh, their prices are pretty good too!

This $100 would be a massive help this Christmas!

Butchermans website is so professional makes me want to buy my meat from these guys. Love how they use gluten free sausages and organic meats, and the prices are really reasonable. Excellent

What a brilliant idea! I could actually never leave the house! Imagine how much more I’d get done. The thing that caught my eye was the free delivery over $100 – if I did a shop for 3 weeks (and froze some) then I wouldn’t be wasting money on delivery fees (I get a bit annoyed about that) – it might also force me to meal plan a bit better – this is looking better already. The prices seem normal, and I like that they have specials (I’m a little price sensitive!!) I also like they have premium (Wagyu etc) as well as daily meat.

What a great selection of products – I think their range is more extensive than most local butchers!
I love the idea of the mixed meat boxes especially for Christmas and free delivery is a bonus!

I think the recipe section is a great idea. I can imagine flicking between recipes and shopping cart when meal planning.

Coming to Sydney in December and staying with friends. What a delightful “thank you” gift this would make. Very happy to find that the prices on the website seem very reasonable for such a high quality meat.

The catalogue is very detailed and the searh box is helpful if you know what meat you want. Many choices with clearly listed prices. If someone bought the products, there will be a tab appearing on the left down corner to notice everyone, which helps you make decision too. Really would love to try to buy from their site to make my Christmas shopping easier.

It is always risky roasting a bird with a bone because if it’s not cooked then it’s a disaster. I’m cooking this year, so I’m going simple. I hope hubby is home over Xmas for you and the family xxx

Great! Thanks for letting me know about these guys Seana! They have a really good delivery schedule to the inner west so they work for me!

I hadn’t come across Butcherman before, but what I really LOVE is that the turkey is free range. We always try to eat free range meats, and up until now I haven’t found free range turkey. Fantastic. I also love that the green prawns are peeled Queensland prawns. I can never find peeled green Australia prawns in the shops, so Butcherman has been quite a find for me!

What a great website. Love the pop ups that tell you what people have just bought and when I was looking at the prices they made me wish I had looked at this before I went to the supermarket today and paid more for sad looking chicken schnitzels and mince. Will be keeping this in mind for my next shop for sure.

This may sound extremely strange, but read to the end and it will make sense! As a vegetarian, my first thought visiting the butcherman website is ARGH, NO!!!!! However, I pushed myself to do so and enter your fabulous competition on behalf of my dear mum… Having a vegetarian daughter and a vegan son has made life pretty hard for our family’s chef! She always tries her best to accommodate everyone and I am so appreciative of all the nutritious meals she makes for us. She confessed to me sadly the other day that all she wants for Christmas is a Christmas ham but she wouldn’t buy one just for herself… This is why I sucked up my vegetarian pride and had a look at the site to enter this giveaway. My mum’s the best and she deserves a ham for Christmas!!!!!

Thanks for the chance, hope you don’t think I’m loopy! 🙂
