Tonight I am feeling very grateful… most acutely right at the minute, I’m so grateful that it’s Friday night and that the week is over.

A wee glass of wine and some big boys watching ‘The Blues Brothers.”  It’s all good.

But a few other things too:

Fun with a Photographer

I had a photo session with Fiona Lumsdaine today and it was a hoot. I need some new piccies as my current ones are a few years old and don’t show off my new wrinkles.  I’ve earned those wrinkles and I’m damn proud of ’em.

It also turns out that her 14 year old son knows my 14 year old son through a mutual pal… small world, and how cool is that?

Holidays In The Sun

Whilst I’d never describe a holiday with my family as relaxing… I’m so very grateful that we got to go on one.  We enjoyed our time in Bali and I think it was so good for the kids to see somewhere out there in the world, far from the Sydney suburbs.

And I loved being in the tropics again and going slightly troppo. It turned out that I had booked a great hotel and then we moved to a really lovely 4-bedroom villa, all much more luxurious than I expected… and no complaints from me!!  See a couple of piccies below.

Kids Back At School

Two back at preschool this week, one back at school and one more back next Tuesday.  Whew!

My big sister Mairi home educated her twins through primary school and was surprised at how glad parents were after the holidays.

“Don’t people enjoy spending time with their children?” she once asked.

“Errr… yes… but you can have too much of a good thing.”

I must confess to always being delighted to pass my children back into the hands of more capable souls than I.  (And don’t even get me started on how much I’m looking forward to the twins going to school next year- sorry!)

Some Blog Clarity

It was god to have a blogcation whilst away and I realised that I’m confusing myself here on  So I’ve come home thinking that a change is required.  I think I will make this more an author website with a blog focussing on great Sydney spots for family and on travels with kids only.  Then maybe I will start another blog, maybe a more personal one… we’ll see…. this fourth term is always madness and then there’s the summer holidays and then two start school, one starts high school, could be hectic!

Linking up with Maxabella’s Grateful tonight… what are you grateful for?

OMG, I love, love, love this Balinese outdoor shower... what a treat!

Beautiful Bali, and your lovely women and girls; grateful to have seen your country and learned a little of your lives.

Arrrghhh the school thing. Maybe I should home school ( no, that would drive even me insane – but I’m still not looking forward to sending my middle girl off next year). Look forward to seeing what you do decide to do with your blog and you’re right 4th term is the killer term. Need the 6 weeks summer holiday to recover!

My big sister home educated her twins through primary, then they decided they wanted to go to high school. I was really impressed by home education, can totally see why people do it… but not for me!

Hope this killer fourth term has started well for you Caz.

Bali looks so good (we tried camping over the school holidays and got rained out and I was dreaming of a tropical getaway…)

I am one of those moms who loves her kids to death but needs them to return to school after 2 weeks holiday – it is hard on us introverts who need time alone every day …

I’m so desperate to be ALONE…. it happens Tuesday, but with things to do, only 2 hours of alone time… but that’s a great start! Wednesday would normally be just a day at home for me, home alone, but it’s Grandparents day at preschool so I am borrowing a friends MIL and taking her to visit the twins then for a coffee. The twins home on Thursday but I’ll get a wee bit of time to myself on Friday…

The villa looks lovely – I look forward to taking my children OS someday soon.

Totes get you about giving the children back to the capable people. Always a relief to know they are in good hands!
