The Hard Rock Cafe, Darling Harbour – Sydney’s Best Cafes For Kids + Teens

The Hard Rock Cafe Sydney makes a top spot to celebrate special occasions like birthdays with your teenagers. This is a treat which has worked really well in our family.

Our best trip was for my oldest son’s 16th birthday. He is a mad heavy metal fan, not to mention a mad burger, chips and soft drink fan, so his passion for the Hard Rock Cafe is totally understandable.

We had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe on his birthday, then he went on to see KISS in concert. And guess what?   Gene Simmonds was at the Hard Rock whilst we were there, so Teen16 and his pals got to see their hero close up and without makeup.

There is plenty to keep little brothers and sisters occupied too.

On one visit, all the teenagers had ribs, and ate the lot up.

salad
Sensible mother has the Haystack Chicken Salad, and even kept the dressing on the side. Such restraint.

But this is what we really came for. I think I enjoy checking out the memorabilia as much as the teens do.

We’ve been to the Hard Rock Cafe at the Gold Coast and it was almost exactly the same. You know what you’re getting at the Hard Rock, American grub in huge portions, and a great big list of cocktails, mocktails and other drinks.  I can totally see why the teenagers love it. It’s not cheap, but it’s actually not wildly expensive for what you get (except that slushie!)

Why no photos of the teenagers? Well, they thought it would be lame to be up on mum’s blog. Quite right lads.

  1. Looks like a great place. I went to the HRC when it was in East Sydney. There used to be very long ques when it first opened there. Happy birthday to your big boy and what a thrill to see Gene without makeup.
    Have a great week.

Thanks Carolyn, he was totally delighted, what a bonus for him and his pal. He’s only 16 and he’s been to more rock concerts than I have, I reckon.
