If you find yourself in the beautiful NSW Central West town of Orange with your kids, then this winery is definitely for you.
Heifer Station has ensured that kids will enjoy their visit to the vineyard as much as the adults.
There are farm animals to pet and feed, and just to watch for a while. The pretty stables are alongside the cellar door, which is itself a very appealing and welcoming space.
NB Booking are essential at the moment.
My daughter loved her visit here, and her favourite animal is definitely Tilly the little Shetland pony.
Heifer Station
Heifer Station is found just west of Orange, on the Escort Highway. It is only a 15 – 20 minute drive from the centre of Orange itself.
It’s well signposted and is just off the road.

The cellar door building has the feel of an old shed, but smartened up and made very comfortable.
It’s very rustic and spacious, feels very relaxed.
Share cheese plates and dip plates are available, we shared the dip plate.
And I had a wee tipple, a glass of the pinor noir, which I found very pleasant and palatable, but that’s all I’ll say as I am no wine expert. I just drink the stuff.
I bought a couple of bottles of the pinot and shared with friends too. Next time, I’ll try a glass of the white, and just hang out there. It’s a most enjoyable spot to spend some time.
Did I mention that I have a soft spot for furry farm animals myself?
Are you planning a trip to Orange?
Shall we meet at Heifer Station for a small refreshment?
