Scottish Stories – At Yellowcraig Beach Today

Yellowcraig Beach East Lothian Scotland

Well, it’s a long way from Sydney’s beautiful beaches!  I heard that my hubby and Teen16 and Rusty Rocket were swimming in the sea yesterday at Jervis Bay.

Not us here in Bonnie Scotland in April. The wind is perishing and the sea would be worse.

July and August are the best times to visit Scotland, not least because the Festival and Fringe are on.  If you ever visit the Edinburgh in July or August, check out the tips on this post: Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Well, April it is for us, and went down to a gorgeous beach today though, all rugged up.  It’s called Yellowcraig, a wee drive from my Mum’s house, just here.

Here are some photos from our visit to Yellowcraig and nearby Direlton.  I’ve done no editing except on the one that was instagrammed.  And I’ll say no more as I’m linking up with Trish’s Wordless Wednesday,

Can highly recommend the cauliflower cheese soup and  pecan brownies at the Direlton Gallery Cafe, should you be passing.

It’s goodnight from us here.

You’re just waking up down there in Sydney.

Are you off to the beach today?

It may have been freezing but it looks beautiful – calm, peaceful and unspoilt 🙂

Wow Seana, the beach is so beautiful, but yes, it does look way colder than I’m used to.
That tree the kids are climbing on is awesome too.
Enjoy the rest of your break x

  • Love Cauliflower soup. It looks quite cool over there. Would love to visit one day!

It is Anzac Day here today. Julia Gillard was at the Dawn Service in Townsville! Your photos look great – just a pity about the cold 🙂

O beautiful! It looks stunning and I’m so jealous! We’re one year and eight months away from our next trip to Scotland – not that I’m counting or anything! Hope the rest of your trip is just as lovely!

What a beautiful beach although I never would have guessed Scotland even though you are all bundled up! I imagine Scotland’s beaches to be a lot more rugged and rocky than sandy like this one.

  • It is beautiful – unless it’s just your excellent photography 🙂 I’ve been to Scotland but never a Scottish beach. Love to see three generations of beautiful Smith women. x A

  • Looks like a cold day at the beach. If you weren’t in coats, I really like those big ropes at the playground.
