I’m listing them with my own favourites at the top.

Places We Have Stayed

The de Russie Suites

This is one of the most upmarket options in Orange, and centrally located in Hill Street. We’ve stayed in a two bedroom suite here which worked really well for us.  The rooms are very luxurious. The only thing lacking really is that there are no good views.

Beautiful and historic Duntryleague Guesthouse

Duntryleague Guesthouse

This very grand historic building is at the west end of town, within the grounds of Duntryleague Golf Course. We had one high-ceilinged room which could sleep four people. Hubby did a 6am round of golf which the rest of us totally slept through.

Happy to be at the Ibis Styles Orange

Ibis Styles Orange

The twins and I stayed here on our very first visit to Orange, on the way home from staying at Dubbo’s Western Plains Zoo.  We had a huge room with two queen beds and a small kitchen. It’s handy to have a bistro in house too when travelling.

Templers Mill 1

Mercure Orange

This motel has large and comfortable rooms, we’ve stayed in one room which easily slept four. It’s on Byng Street in the heart of Orange city centre and very handy for shops, the museum and art gallery, and for fantastic cafes and restaurants. This hotel was known for years as Templers Mill but re-branded as the Merccure.

Rentals: Houses + Apartments

Orange City Serviced Apartments

We’ve rented houses for a week at a time using OCSA and have found the people who run it fantastically helpful. I’d recommend giving them a call and explaining how many people you are and what you are looking for.

Doing a search on Airbnb is a handy way to find out what is available however I do generally advise readers to book direct if possible. Often you can see that an agent is managing the property, it is usually cheaper to book direct as you do not pay the Airbnb fees, which are steep.

Places We’ve Yet To Try But Have Heard Good Things

Quest Orange 700

Quest Orange

Very centrally located, close to the train and bu station and directly opposite the lovely Factory Espresso cafe, Quest Orange will work well for families as it has several apartment options: one, two and three bedroom apartments are available.

Opened in 2019, this is a very modern and up-to-date accommodation options for families who are looking for comfort and do not mind missing out on heritage features. Quest Orange is close to everything.

Address: 132 Kite Street, Orange Nsw 2800 Australia

The Oriana Orange

Pool Club4 2 1024x434 1

The Oriana was one of the first motels in Orange, opened in 1968. New owners have given this four star property an extensive makeover, the rooms are very smart and the restaurant, garden and pool are are most appealing. There is one deluxe family room but do check other options if you stay in summer as having the pool and gardens for the kids to play in would be a huge plus.

The Oriana is at the far end of the main thoroughfare in Orange, close to Duntryleague Golf Club, it’s a short walk to Cook Park and town through some really delightful parts of the city.

The iconic pub the Hotel Canobolas

Hotel Canobolas Motel and Units

The Hotel Canobolas is an iconic old pub now modernised and serving great food, right in the heart of Orange.

There are rooms in the hotel itself and there are super popular for couple.  For families, we’ve heard that the motel and units are good. There are family, double and queen rooms available, just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

Check availability and pricing at the Hotel Canobolas Motel and Units here.

The Black Sheep Inn

For a more rustic stay, the Black Sheep in is just 15 minutes out of town and has family accommodation.
