Coogee Beach + Pools

Arden Street

Coogee 2034

Coogee is a beautiful, wide beach with a golden crescent of sand and a wide promenade skirting the reserve. The beach is well known for its surf but has plenty to offer the families. Locals say Coogee usually has less surf than Maroubra, Tamarama and Bronte.

There is easy stroller access to the lower promenade past the first aid post and beach inspectors’ office. There are shaded seating areas on the lower promenade and strollers can be parked there.

The lower promenade continues along to the surf-lifesaving club and the ocean pool which has a separate toddler splash area with a little patch of beach. Here the water is flat and safe for children most days.

Cafes: Several along Arden Street

Toilets: Toilet block in the reserve, near the road

Shade: None on the beach, some shadecloth on the lower promenade

Playground: Not by the beach but there is an excellent playground on the headland above the southern end of the beach

Ocean pool: Yes, good for kids

Mum’s report: A nice big beach with lots for the kids to do amid the buzz of Coogee. Coogee is on a flight path to Sydney airport so large planes often fly over providing big thrills for little boys.

Extra: Coogee Clifftops walk is great, click here.

Parking: Free carpark at the northern end of the beach, entrance off the roundabout in Arden Street Nearest station: No

Nearest ferry: No
