Muddy’s Playground on the Esplanade in Cairns is famous for its water play features… and also for its immense size. It really is huge, and there are areas to suit all ages and stages of children.
Alright, we admit it, we are playground nerds.
And when in Cairns, there’s one huge and very marvellous playground which demands to be visited. So we got straight over there one sunny day. Luckily, it’s just a short walk from where we were staying at the Novotel.
Isn’t the play equipment fantastic?
And I love the artworks and gardens too.
There is one fully enclosed toddler play area, it wasn’t busy when we were there. It’s pretty big, love the play houses.
The cafe is very handy too. It’s large and the view out to see from the tables is divine.
Food is of the fast variety. Milk shakes, smoothies and coffees are served too. Or BYO food and drink, there are plenty of BBQs if you want to make a day of it.

Happy playing!
My son adored this playground when we went to Cairns a few weeks ago! Sydney should have more of these!
