The Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is just an excellent family-friendly resort hotel. We can highly recommend it.
It’s ideal for families, a great spot to visit from Sydney, or from anywhere!
Here’s our guide to all the fun things to do and enjoy at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Introduction
The Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is very much a family resort. It has a wide variety of accommodation types all set within an 18-hole championship golf course and plenty of activities to keep all the family happy. There’s also the daily Water Dragons kids club, read our review further down this article.
There are also great opportunities to do nothing at all… I’d have loved to but my children are just not like that.
The Crowne Plaza works for families with children of all ages; there’s fun for the little ones and a great pool. My teenagers would be kept amused here as well.
Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Rooms
We stayed in a twin double room in the resort building itself. There are also two and three-bedroom self-contained villas which we’d use if all six of us came to stay.
BUT I must say that I loved staying in the hotel so that we were close to all the amenities, and I didn’t have to shop, cook or cleanup.
The rooms are pretty spacious with lovely bathrooms.
The twins made themselves right at home.
Huge Pools and Water Playground
There is a really large resort pool with heaps of loungers all around. There’s a shallow splash pool for toddlers and a large expanse of shallow water which is great for older children to play.
There were heaps of great lilo floats which my kids loved playing with. There’s also a huge bubbly spa pool which is always a real winner with my kids.
An adults-only 25m pool is a newer addition, somewhere to exercise or relax when you can find some time alone.
There is also a large water playground, fantastic for kids of all ages. Here’s a video of it.
Kid-Friendly Activities
My twins adored the table tennis tables near the pool, there’s also a pool table. There is a basketball court and a volleyball court, plus three floodlit tennis courts.
Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Restaurants
The Lovedale Bistro is open from 10am during the week and from 8am at weekends. Food is available, including snacks, lunch and dinner. There is an outdoor deck by the pool.
Redsalt is the fine dining restaurant, very good indeed. It’s also the venue for breakfasts, great range of food with juice bar and coffee car too.
The room service menu had plenty of healthy options, impressed by that. The Vista Lounge is the place to sip a cocktail or try a new whisky. There are also snacks and light meals served here.
Water Dragons Kids Club
Water Dragons Kids Club is in a separate building within the resort grounds. You can walk from the main area in five to ten minutes, or can drive there. There are several play areas within the building with all sorts of equipment and art and craft.
There are outdoor play areas too, including a playground and a big sports field.
Hours vary, so do call ahead to see when the Kids Club is open. There is always a lot on offer during school holidays.
Teens Lounge: there is a laid back area for teenagers with comfy seats, TV and video games.

That pool looks amazing! And the kids club is a big bonus. I think I might just forward this review to the other half as a big fat hint for a special anniversary we have coming up later this year x
Good plan, your lads would love all the activities I am sure and who wouldn’t love that gorgeous pool?
This isn’t too far away from us to consider for a weekend away. The rooms look great and I can see my kids spending a lot of time in the pool. @teamwanderlust
