Lizard Log is a terrific venue for Sydney families, it is part of the enormous Western Sydney Parklands.
There is a delightful natural playground which has excellent equipment. Plus there are many large shelters and BBQs. Lizard Log makes a terrific place for get togethers with families and friends. But the kids will also enjoy coming for a play at any time!
There’s now a cafe on site too. What more could we want?!
Where is Lizard Log Park + Playground?
Western Sydney Regional Park, Cnr Cowpasture Road and the Horsley Drive, Horsley Park NSW 2164
This is a spacious playground with equipment located in a natural bushy setting over a couple of sections. There are lots of wooden structures to clamber around and play on, with sand softfall beneath. This is a terrific spot for messy play.
The equipment here includes:
- large flying foxes
- giant swings
- big slide with climbing wall
- disc merry-go-round
- sand diggers
- wooden balance beams
- water play feature
The combination of cool play equipment and the natural bushland settings makes this a very special place.
There are no pieces of equipment ideal for toddlers, parents may need to help them play on the equipment.
There are plenty of tracks and paths which are suitable for walking, great for strollers and for bikes and trikes too.The path is 2.5 kilometres long so it’s good for a stroller walk or a cycle for older children.
There are lots of cycle paths throughout Western Sydney Parklands, click here for more info.
Lizard Log Park Bookings: Check out the webpage here.
Nearest coffee: Cafe on site, you will see it on the left as you drive in. But this is not the best area to park when visiting the playground.
Toilets: Yes up hill by BBQs and shelters, there are two large toilet blocks.
Shade: Some
Enclosed: No, but safely far from the road
Mum’s report: This is a great place to visit for the day, especially on a sunny winter’s day. It can get boiling in summer though, avoid midday!
Parking: Car park by the playground, it is the West Car Park, the further one from the entrance from Cowpasture Road.
This playground is well worth travelling to, you can make an excellent half day trip of it. Or spend half a day here and then drive the short distance to the equally splendid Plough and Harrow Playground, also in the Western Sydney Parklands.
This is definitely one of Sydney’s 50 Best Playgrounds, see our full list here.

PS I took these photos right in the middle of a VERY hot day and there were no kids at the playground, very wisely… it can get very busy though so do chose your times carefully.
