Cakes to make on rainy days

When the weather is dreich in Sydney, it’s time to make a cake.

And doesn’t the word ‘dreich’ just sum up these ‘orrible atmospheric conditions.

Cakes for rainy days

Dreich (Old Scots origin)
A combination of dull, overcast, drizzly, cold, misty and miserable weather. At least four of the above adjectives must apply before the weather is truly dreich.
The Urban Dictionary.

The best way to weather this weather is to find a friend and have a blether.

Ideally, with a cup of tea and a warm, scrumptious cake that’s just out of a toasty oven.

Here are the best cake recipes on this blog, firm faves for our family.

I love that my children can now cook many of them by themselves!

  1. Oh you bet baking is so therapeutic on a rainy or cold day! I’m loving your peanut butter cupcake recipe. The last 2 weeks I’ve been on a roll baking choc chip cookies and also red velvet cookies (from the box). They sure were warm gooey memories πŸ™‚ I had to stop as it was too much sugar πŸ˜‰
