A reader recently asked for a list of Sydney beaches that have playgrounds or skate parks right beside them.
What a top idea!
So I have gone through all my beaches posts and pulled together this list.
Just click the links to read a long post with photos about each place.
Has anyone bagged them all?
Balmoral Beach, Baths + Playground
Fully fenced and with great equipment for the littlies, the playground at Balmoral is close to the baths, beach and cafes. Read more about Balmoral here.

Bondi Beach + Playground
There’s a shaded fully fenced playground just up on the reserve, with good extensive equipment and wonderful beach views. Read more about Bondi here.
Bronte Beach + Playground
There’s a large playground at the rear side of the big reserve at Bronte, well worth a visit. I totally need to update the photos on this Bronte post here.
Clontarf Beach + Playground
A piece of heaven in Middle Harbour, with a large boat-themed playground, unfenced, right beside the beach and netted swimming baths. Read all about it here.

Collaroy Beach + Playground
Our very favourite of the playgrounds beside beaches, this one is very big, with amazing equipment and it is fully encloded. It’s alongside the beach and a short walk from the rock pool. Read all about the Collaroy playground and beach here.
Dee Why Beach + Playground
Beautiful Dee Why has a fully fenced playground on the reserve, it’s a bit old-fashioned and in need of an upgrade, but you cannot fault the views and little kids love it. Read all about Dee Why here.
Clifton Gardens Beach + Playground
I think Clifton Gardens has the biggest playground of any of the Sydney Harbour Beaches, it’s extensive, with an enclosed area for younger kids. Read all about Clifton Gardens here.
Frenchmans Beach Playground, La Perouse
Frenchmans Bay at La Perouse is calm and is unusual in that it faces west into Botany Bay, unlike the east-facing ocean beaches. There is a fairly new and small but well-equipped playground here with a timber boat, a climbing dome, a carousel and slides and climbing mounds. Read more about the playground at Frenchmans Bay on the Randwick Council website here. Check out all the features on this video below.
Keemagh Beach + Playground
There’s a fenced playground on the reserve close to the beach at Kyeemach at Botany Bay. Read all about it here.

Malabar Beach + Playground
The fenced playground at Cromwell Park at Malabar overlooks the beach. It has a good range of equipment and spectacularviews. Read more on our article here: Malabar Beach + Playground.
Maroubra Beach, Playground + Skate Park
There’s a lovely big fenced playground on the reserve behind the beach here, and a big skate park is close by too. See photos and read more about Maroubra here.
Newport Beach and Playground
There’s a newly renovated, enclosed playground in front of the Surlf Life Saving Club at Newport, I need to take some photos next time I am passing. It looks great. Read more about Newport here.
Parsley Bay Beach + Playground
There’s a playground which is great for younger children at the rear of the reserve here, read about Parsley Bay here.
Queenscliff Beach + Playground
Queenscliff is a surf beach with a big rock pool, there’s a huge enclosed playground across the road (or just walk under the bridge). The playground is great, has parking alongside. Check out the beach post with links to the playground post here.

Shelly Beach + Playground, Cronulla
There’s a huge enclosed playground on the reserve at Shelly beach, it’s got excellent equipment for all ages. Read more about Shelly Beach here.
Tamarama Beach and Playground
This is a beach that can have huge surf, however, kids are safe between the flags, plus there’s a playground at the rear of the reserve and the cafe too. Read all about Tamarama here.
So… where do we need to explore next?
